Records → tax → receipt

Connect records. Keep each boundary clear.

Bring accounting records into one visible review path, then connect only the HMRC tax module you need. A source connection never means the books are checked, and a prepared figure never means it was filed.

CSV is open now and stays in this browser. Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent and Sage connectors are not live, so this page cannot ask them for access or collect provider data. The local-development proof uses fictional records only.

The actual path

One line from source to receipt

Open steps work now. The others name the missing gate rather than hiding it behind a green connection light.

  1. Bring records in

    CSV open now

Choose a source and one business. See what will be read before anything enters your books.

Proof: A connection is access, not completeness.

    Import a CSV →
  2. Review the changes

    Inbox open; conflicts next

Resolve categorisation suggestions and possible duplicates in Money Inbox. Changed source rows are detected, but their dedicated resolution screen is still to build.

Proof: No suggestion changes a figure until you confirm it; a detected conflict is not called resolved.

    Open my Money Inbox →
  3. Check completeness

    Next

Reconcile balances, unresolved items, evidence, late transactions and the source capabilities TaxSorted cannot see.

Proof: Signing in to a source never earns a reconciled badge.

  4. Prepare the tax view

    Income Tax open

Trace each total back through categories, reviewed events and official guidance. Unknown facts remain unknown.

Proof: Starter Books derives Income Tax quarter totals; it does not yet derive a VAT return.

    Review a quarterly update →
  5. Connect one HMRC module

    Sandbox only

Connect VAT or Income Tax separately. Each module keeps its own permissions, status and off-switch.

Proof: Disconnecting one tax must not disconnect the other.

    Open HMRC practice connection →
  6. Approve, send and keep the receipt

    Quarter practice open

Re-read the local books, show the exact totals, submit them to HMRC's test system, and keep the submission reference.

Proof: A sandbox receipt proves only that the test system accepted that send; payment tracking is not built.

Bank CSV

Open now

Import a signed-amount CSV into local Starter Books, then review every row before it enters a tax figure.

The source trail keeps

  • â€ĸ stable file and row identity
  • â€ĸ source wording
  • â€ĸ review state
  • â€ĸ later corrections

Boundary: GBP and one activity per import. Separate Debit and Credit columns, automatic bank matching and cloud backup are not live.

Xero

Connector not live

The first planned read-only connection: choose one Xero organisation, bring in visible changes and keep the original Xero record IDs.

The planned adapter must keep

  • â€ĸ chosen Xero organisation
  • â€ĸ source change markers
  • â€ĸ original tax codes
  • â€ĸ source timestamps

Boundary: Xero's standard accounting connection does not expose unreconciled statement lines or let an app reconcile them. Attachments are also outside TaxSorted's first pilot. Both gaps will stay visible.

Already use it

Connector not live. No access request is shown until it is built and has its own off-switch.

QuickBooks Online

Connector not live

A later read-only connection will link one company, use change notices as prompts and check again for anything it missed.

The planned adapter must keep

  • â€ĸ chosen QuickBooks company
  • â€ĸ source change markers
  • â€ĸ original tax codes
  • â€ĸ source attachment links

Boundary: QuickBooks gives an app one broad accounting permission, so TaxSorted's planned connection must permit reads only. Its Change Data Capture check looks back 30 days and returns at most 1,000 records, so missed changes need prompt repair.

FreeAgent

Connector not live

A later read-only connection will keep bank transactions, their explanations and FreeAgent return states distinct.

The planned adapter must keep

  • â€ĸ original bank transaction
  • â€ĸ one or more explanations
  • â€ĸ return status
  • â€ĸ filing reference

Boundary: FreeAgent gives an app the permissions held by the person who connects it; it does not offer a separate read-only permission. TaxSorted's planned connection must make only read requests and respect the 120-per-minute and 3,600-per-hour limits.

Sage Accounting (UK)

Connector not live

A planned UK connection will link one Sage business, preserve its original record IDs and show what changes TaxSorted cannot detect automatically.

The planned adapter must keep

  • â€ĸ chosen Sage business
  • â€ĸ original Sage record IDs
  • â€ĸ tax treatment
  • â€ĸ links to source attachments

Boundary: Country, product, plan and user role change what is available. No supported public Sage Accounting change-notification service has been found, so regular complete change checks remain necessary.

Separate HMRC modules

Connect only the tax module you need

VAT and Income Tax use separate permissions, identifiers, obligations and receipts. TaxSorted keeps each connection independent, so one module can be reauthorised or disconnected without silently moving the other.

Gaps the finished flow must close

What the next integrations must make true

These are product commitments, not claims about today's build. The delivery state for each working step remains shown above.

Connection truth

See the chosen organisation, access used, last complete sync, coverage gaps and the exact recovery step. Connected never means reconciled.

One readiness queue

Uncategorised, unexplained, duplicated, changed, late, unsupported and missing-evidence items meet in one place before filing.

Every total opens

Move from a return box or Income Tax category to mapped records, source evidence, the reason for the treatment and current official guidance.

Filing is not one tick

Prepared, approved, declared, submitting, accepted, rejected, marked elsewhere, paid and corrected remain distinct inspectable states.
